I have a 04 6.0 thats been sitting still for about five months because I've been away on business. I have a banks power tuner installed in the truck.
I drove the truck today and the turbo sounds different. It has a much higher pitch and isn't as loud as it used to be. There's also a major loss of power and the turbo boost gauge goes all the way to 50 psi (tapped out) when I get on the gas. Also, when the tranny shifts, the truck makes that blow-off sound but it's slower than usual. It's also blowing off alot more than usual.
I have the Banks tuner turned off right now. Dont want it to screw anything else up. Any ideas on waht might be wrong? Please help...
I think I covered that question already in your last post. Does your truck over boost without the Banks unit? You might have an issue with the VGT control valve. Kind of hard to tell arm chairing from this distance.
I talked to the tech when I was getting my recall done and he told me they had a few of the township trucks that had bad turbo's because they rusted up from sitting. Not sure what the fix is besides a replacement but something to look at maybe some high temp lube will get it working correctly.
Good luck

The turbo vanes are probably stuck. The only fix I know of is to replace the turbo.
