Hi all ! I want know, if a temperature gauge is installed; what temperature usually you can see in this tranny model while;
1º Driving at higway?
2º On citi traffic?
3º Towing?
My tranny is running at 185-190ºF at higway, 195-200ºF at citi and 200-215ºF towing, all this with a 180ºF T-stat and about 90ºF ambient. It has installed an aftermarket tranny cooler also but it seems to me still been a bit high, the engine seems to me is runnign a bit high also, but new water pump, t-stat, fanclutch, belt and tensioner were installed.
Could be my tranny producing to much heat and overheating the engine also?
It sounds a little high. I got a 97 E4OD in my motorhome, it normally runs close to the GVWR, and I got 160-170 normally. I measure the temperature at the line going to the cooler, which is the hotter place. Hope it helps.
OK, some more info. 2 days ago we went from MI to KY. Temperature was from 70 to 85. Average speed in the hills was 60. Towing a Neon in a dolly, my GVW was abour 14K and GCW 17.5K. Tire temperature was 110 to 130 (one of my front was consistently 10 degrees higher). Engine temperature was quite good. Tranny temperature was consistently at 160-170, sometimes peaking out at 180.
I did replace the fluid before this trip, so it is brand new fluid.
