I Recently Installed The New Bug Shield From Ford On My 06 Screw.does Anyone Have Any Experience With (paint) Damage From The Slip- On Clamps Or Where The Shield Clamps Between The Grill/hood
I have never had a problem with a bug guard before. I have always had one and have had one on all of my trucks. I will say this. About twice a year take it off and clean/wax behind it. Make sure the rubber stops are in the correct placing, if it has any. If it didn't come with any, you may want to see if you think it needs them. If it does, they have little clear rubber bumpers at Wally World.
without the rubber thingys, and you clamp on that metal bracket, you will chip your pait. its metal on paint contact! I lost my rubber padding so I just taped the edge of my hood with two layers of double sided tape (thick padding). It works.
I bought the ford one and brougt it home to put on, saw those clips, and took it back to the dealer for a refund. I bought a lund one at cabela's, it has small clear vynil pieces that go on the hood, under the clips, and the clips are rubber coated. It doesn't look as clean as the ford one, but paint protection is number one with this one. The wind whistle is annoying.
The Factory Bug Deflector comes with 2 3M Self Adhesive pads in which the mounting clips rest on. Other then the possible scratch undreneath the hood...I cannot see how it will in anyway damage the paint if properly installed per manufacturer's Instructs.

Very true. Not likely to scratch...otherwise, my OCD and **** self will not allow this to be installed if I saw any scratches from it. This is coming from a guy that had his right fender painted because there was a small 1" scratch from my zipper ($350 later)
