O.K. what bug shield/guard do you guys recommend? Just got a 03 supercrew that is silver metalic. It already has the smoke color window visors that the dealer had installed but they didn't put a bug shield on it. I'm trying to decide on a brand, Lund or EGR, and weather or not to get the smoked color or get the clear and get it painted from the rear to match the truck. I've seen the painted type on a few trucks and it looks pretty good. Can't decide if it would look funny having the smoked window visors and a matched bug shield!
Thanks for any insight!!!
got a question on the topic of bug shields....this may belong in another forum...but i am gonna throw it out anyway.. I was looking through my owners manual the other day on my 97, which is a rare thing because I use my haynes manual mostly....anyway it cited bug shields as a source of gas mileage loss. now this makes sense to a degree...but how much could it realistically be affecting mileage.
I have a Bugflector II and have been happy...however the hardware that came with it was horrible...I used self tapping sheetmetal screws to put it on. worked great.
Gas mileage loss LOL. It is so miniscule Im sure that you or I could never measure it. I had a big flat ugly bug shield on my GMC dually and when I removed it, I didnt notice one iota of difference in gas mileage. That 454 didnt care how much or how little air it was pushing, the mileage was bad no matter what.
I didn't notice any difference after installing mine. With this cold *** winter, they should put something in the manual about remote starters causing reduced gas mileage LOL!
