anyone know why the triptunes deal isnt available for anything older than an 06? different head unit?
I'm a bit confused about that one too. It is to my understanding (someone correct me) that the '04-'06 radios and harnessing should all be very similar if not identical.
I also got wind that this is an all actuallity a FM x-mitter (again someone correct me) Even a careful look on the Ford accessories page makes it look like it should be x-mitting to the radio. The description a friend told me was... Power, ground and a pair of rca (type-f?) plugs... and some other wire he wasn't sure about. I'm suppose to get some sort of cut-sheet or install-guide for this "Triptunes" soon. Again it seems confusing to me that someone would call it a FM X-mitter if it does actually have rca plugs, etc... ?.... I'm gonna dig more into this.
the 04 - up f150s wont let you control it through the radio. you have to look at the applications. they do make one for us but you need to "fumble with your i-pod".
It even filters out the Generations of iPod that it's compatible with.
This makes me think about my "modified" In-line FM tuner I made for a scanner/cb radio in my (sold) Ranger. I think I tossed it?
This "issue" makes me glad I went with a aftermarket HU...
JVC has a RCA line input adapter... Sorry you guys are having troubles
Its funny, I never ever thought about having my MP3(iPod) player in my truck till I came to "sunny" Korea. Of course I didn't have the iPod till after I got settled in here. I only had a RCA branded MP3 player for the plane trip over.
I suppose while I'm here and digging through the masses of Electrical marts...I'll look for an adapter (X-mitterless of course) thier seems to be A LOT of aftermarket iPod acces. manufacturers on this side of the world...go figure...
Its gonna be nice coming home (for vacation) in another 2weeks...
