Nothin' wrong with a nice clean work truck! Actually, when they're clean, it's easier to spot potential problems like leaks, and with my 100 mile round trip to work every day, I insist on it. She just seems to run better after she's had a bath and a vacuum. On the engine-tilt issue, I bought one of those engine levelers. Don't know how much tilt you can get out of one, but it has made it a little easier to get on the stand a couple of times.
fordraceboy... well you got me in it, i just seem to be going deeper and deeper! I hope this doesn't turn out to be the toaster I took apart when I was 9!
I worked on that front clip as you suggested, labeled everything, took pictures, sprayed the bolts down good over several days, then the fun began! Struggled and struggled could not get bolts out of frame at front. Finally, got my best shop light out and studied the situation closely (eyes ain't what they used to be) and voila'! Dang thing had to come out from the top not the bottom. That may be a big duh for you, actually for me too, but other than that the clip wasn't too bad to get off. Now, I have it off, took the bed off too and can put new fuel and brake lines, new gas tank, and install the engine and transmission as well!
Thanks for the good advice!

Reason: what to add a thanks
LOL. Mil1ion, you just sit there and tweak a little string every now and again and watch the result!
Ya know, as soon as I got the bed off I was looking at how dismal that frame was looking... some parts all greasy and dirty, others caked with hard red Georgia clay, not to mention the Muddobber's and Wasp nests, and how rust encrusted other portions were, like the wheel hubs and frame under the bed, and such, and after seeing it like that the warning buzz in my head went off as the compulsiveness kicked in as I was wondering what should I do?
I've had the clip off for a month now, and the bed's off lying on its back (my wife says "oh no it had a baby" for a couple weeks. There it sits, waiting on a decision. The trucks old and tired, but I've come a long way with it, my first rebuild, 351m turned 400, gotten another transmission, master cylinder, alternator, fuel pump, brake lines, gas tank, fuel lines.
I'm not sure how to do the rest either, and Lord knows I've been asking a flurry of questions on other topics... hmmm... maybe I need the knife a little deeper....
Cleaning up,Rust-Proofing and Painting the Fram increase the value of the Truck 3-fold.
Many guys can only dream of being able to Have the Cab and Box off to do this "Extremely Beneficial" Task to Make their truck a "Looks Absolutely Outstanding.......you must be so proud of yourself " type project.
Got me on a fence... The trouble is I'll need so much to get this right... still.... how much more for the cab to come off? That's got to be a big deal... i dunno...
I'm thinking not on this one... i was wondering though, someone mentioned using a small compressor to sand blast... mine's a 25 or 30 gallon home jobber. can one do anything with that? what's soda blasting? is it less toxic?
otherwise taking to someone to have them do it. hmm....
