300 into a 1964 F250

Well isn't this just funny?
First off I just want to welcome you to this wornderful, and helpful website.
Secondly, I am doing the same swap in my 1964 Ford f250 and I have to say it is a pain in the butt. Ethire if you already have the engine or if your just toying around with the thought let me say just don't do it.
It would be easier to go with a 302, 351 or some other V8.
Nobody makes after market brackets for thhis swap, so you will have to make your own. And you will also have to get another tranny due to yours not linig up with the bell housing.
Anyway, if you do go through with the swap, good for you and please don't let me put bad though in your head about this swap. the 300 is a great engine. Just hard to swap it if it is older than a 1965 Ford.

Mid 60s through 70s trucks with the FE use the same mounting plates and postions as the 240/300.
Buy a FE crossmember from LMC or whomever and get 1965-76 300 engine mounts.
This is a prety simple step. Flashie told me this and I did measure it out. It will work.
You still need a tranny and bellhousing to match the 300 and you will need to fab a tranny crosmember to support it.
Total cost for mounts, crossmember, tranny support, and hardware will be less then 500.

I'm actually looking at doing this too, I flip-flop between the 4.9L I already have in a parts truck, and buying an EFI 5.0 from a boneyard. This week I'm leaning towards the 4.9L EFI. As said, mounts will likely have to be fabbed, and the trans will not bolt up. I'm stealing an M5OD trans from the parts truck, as well as the Borg warner T-case.

What kind of mounts does the FE crossmember use? My truck was a 292, and has the front mount and rear bellhousing mounts, is the FE a side mount? Also, are all 300 mounts all years the same? My 4.9L EFI motor is an '89.
And do you mean there is a stock one in the junkyard somewhere that will work, or just something like this?

If that's what you mean, for almost $200 for the crossmember and mounts, I'll build my own! I'm not paying that much for $20 worth of steel I can weld together myself.

You use that $200 crosmember from LMC or whomever you want to buy it from, or make it yourself. If you can buy that steel for $20 you have a great hookup. Buy them some beer.
Not all years of 300 engine mounts are the same. the 80s and 90s style are differnt yet again. I would use a set from a 72 F100 or somthing like that .

Good to know, I guess I'll get it hanging from the cherry picker in the general vicinity and see what needs to be done.
