My question is i went to order a 2006 v-10 and they say their out of them for the year and now i'm cosidering the 5.4. i dont really tow anything but i like the power of the v-10 going up hill.
I could wait till may to order one but then theres no rebates and my trade in is worth less than now. so my questions is whether the 5.4 will do it for me or not.
i tried the dealer search and out of 600 dealers there were no V-0 6 speeds.
They told you that they were out of v10's I have never herd of such a thing. Call ford and ask them if they ran out of v10's something just doesn't sound right to me.
Yeah, it sure doesn't sound right, but for the price you pay for a new truck, I would wait and get the one I wanted. You'll be alot happier with the v-10 in a super duty, and besides, rebates should stay the same, or get stronger as we get closer to summer. Ford starts changing over for the next model year in july, plus ford lost money last quarter, so they'll be pushing thier products.
There's another thread called 2006 V-10 Delays, that discusses the freeze on V-10's. Apparently its real.
Anyway, the question is whether you could get by with the 5.4. If you're not actually towing, why buy the largest gas tow truck? There are a lot of posters completely satisfied with the 5.4, just do a search on it.
Besides, I just heard on the news tonight (March 17th) that there are some new anti-smog fuel requirements going into effect this month for which we really don't have the refining capacity, and there were predictions of $3 to $3.50 per gallon gas this summer. When/if that happens you may well find a few on the lots then....
hold off till the end of april or early may for the 07. and order it with the v10.
just so you know ford has sold out whats left of the 06 super dutys. no more orders. the 07 will be ready for order shortly and don't wait on them .the runwill be very short with the new 08 truck coming out in jan or feb 07.
this is something we knew was coming just not when or how fast.
yes it is true. at work we settled for 6 new f-350 XL reg cab DRW trucks with the 5.4 instead of the v-10. But they still have plenty of power for what we use them for. we hitch them up daily to 10,000 loaded trailers with a skid steer, auger, sweeper and tools. We did get them with the 4.30 i believe or it may be the 4.10 . But i have been driving one for a week now and it does have the power just not as much as the v-10. The v-10 is just a 5.4 with 2 more cylinders added to the middle. These trucks were replacements for the 6 6.0 trucks we had left. The company has decided reliability is better than power.
This is a cool accessory to add to any truck. We have a new patented product called the Hitch Safe Key Vault that fits into most 2 inch receiver hitches. This allows you to store a spare key inside the receiver hitch that can only be accessed using your own personal 4 digit code. You will never be locked out of your truck again. We have complete videos on our web site showing how it works and how to set the combination. We currently have a promotion on our site giving one away for free. All you need to do is visit our site and register to be qualified for the give away.
