I have a 90 4x4 standard cab. I'm having problems with the horn. It just will not work. I found the wires that connect the two horns together. There is only on wire for both of the horns. I did not find a ground wire coming off any of the connections. I need to get this working. Can anybody help me
Thanks Seafire
The horns are grounded through their mounting bracket and the frame. There is no seperate ground wire.
Pull off the wire(s) and check for 12v when the horn is pressed. If you don't get 12v, then it's probably a fuse or relay. If you do get 12v, then either both horns are bad, or their grounds (rust, corrosion, etc. at the mounts) are no good.
Best I can do is with regard to a '92, ought to be the same setup, I would guess.
If your Ranger has crusie control, then it will indeed have a horn relay. The relay can be found behind the lower LH side of dash, RH side of steering column, mounted on a bracket.
If your truck does not have cruise control, then there is no relay in the horn circuit.
