hills definately says lockers all over it... esp since itll be wet some. You will lose some mileage out of your tires, but IMO its worth it. Id do it if I had the money....

Item #14293

All the ones that look like this, are all made by the same Taiwan company, northern, ebay, etc.. I think I posted a while back about busting the shaft on mine when I made the mistake of skidding with the log attached. Snapped the gear shaft in 1/2. oops. So, I ended up learning about it in my quest for parts. Northern took it back and gave me credit towards a Warn1700 :-)

For what it is, it is a good value. I found it handy dragging 1200# logs into the truck bed and for getting cars on trailers and tow dollies. I used it to help pull down a few trees and skid a few logs too.

It is slow, has a manual clutch for unspooling, but, draws barely 40 amps at load which was perfect for my 65 amp F-100 alt. 6 guage wire worked swell. It will pull a full sized truck onto a trailer.

They're about $30 for the bases: http://offroadrecovery.zoovy.com/product/HLORB

Yeah, for what you're doing I think a locker (or 2) and a Hi-Lift would be a much better way to go.
