Yea, well, Nuclear Power School was the first time I was ever around a group where everyone was smarter than me - I was in dumb study the entire year, and finished last in my class. I guess I would be a B typical type, with a class A personality.

At the time the school was located at Mare Island, and shared space with the Navel Inshore Operators School. They were training to operate Swift Boats inshore of Viet Nam. During their morning PT run they would circle the barracks and chant "Nukey, nukey, don't feel blue, Tinkerbell was a fairy too!"

I kind of resented being woke up and called that, but I could go back to sleep while they had to run laps and do PT. Plus, when I finished the school and shipped out I would not need to worry about anyone shooting at me!

But enough sea stories, it bores the other posters. 'sides that, the best ones should be told in person and never written down!

I'll keep mine short:
Born at an Air Force Hospital in Michigan in 1972, moved to OR in 1973, grew up(relatively speaking) in Albany, OR until I went in the Army in 1992(63B lite wheel mechanic in Ft. Bliss, TX), left in Dec. 1994, back to Albany. Then I worked at NAPA, until I found my wife on a chat room online, so in 1996 I moved to Modesto working at another NAPA(in Modesto). I got a Job with the Phone Co. in 1997 as a Lineman, and here I am.

I was born and raised out side of fresno cal.Went to school in madera cal. and joined the navy.I shipped out for basic on grad night, and have not been back there since.

The navy has taken me around the world and has been very good to me.My job in the navy gets me around and i dont to comfertable in one spot.My postings go as such.

Ill start in cali.San diago, miramar and alameda.Hawaii and two postings in florida, pensacola and jacksonville.I had a bref stint in virginia, but that about does it for the states except for were im at now.

Ive lived in alot of different countrys and ill name a few.Two postings in japan, yakoeska and okinowa.Subic bay philipeins, tailand and hong kong.Singapor was a treat but sri lanka was a joke.

Austrailia was awsome but didnt stay long.have been all thruout the persion gulf,as well as three spots in africa.

Ive called a few spots in europe home such as turkey, italy, france, spain germany and england.

Im not going to mention all the different ships that ive been on, but theres been a few.
I have also been in every conflict the U.S has been in since 1989,as well as a few that the genral public does not know about.

Why am i in fallon nv. now? well this place is special. My folks moved here in 93 and my wifes folks live here as well[her dad was in the navy].
In the navy the younger sailors like places that have alot to do,but for a famliy man such as my self this is the place to raise kids.
Its a quite town with allmost no crime and good schools. The navy has told me that its my decesion when i want to leve.well i dont think that thats going to happen anytime soon.
Im a master cheif in charge of combat operations at the fighter weapons school, but you guys know it as Top Gun.
Wow.... great intro.

I am from Alameda. When were you stationed at NAS Alameda? I used to work there but it may have been long after you were there.

I was born and raised in Plumas county, graduated class of 76 from Quincy.

Work bounced me around through, Plumas, Lassen, Tulare and Trinity counties and the Idaho Panhandle.
Back in northern Plumas county now.

Kinda fun to see who had been in Susanville as thats where I work now.

Cheers

OK, I'm game.

I was born in Virginia, quickly moved to florida, tennessee, california, and landed in arizona. Oops, moved back to california, then back to the Phoenix area. After a few years in Phoenix, moved to Denver, then to BRADY NEBRASKA (big noise for a small town). Onward to Omaha and Council Bluffs, Des Moines Iowa, back to Omaha, then off to Portland Oregon, Vancouver Washington, and finally (probably not) to the Sacramento area. (these are actually places where I have lived independent of military stuff. I'm talking about a 20/21st century wage *****. God took me and my family and cast us to the wind.

I'm thinking that the place to settle down is where orchids grow wild and sandy beaches are naturally created by salt water waves.

BaseballBabe,i was in alameda in 89 to 90.It was a shame to see the navel facilaties close in the bay area,it put alot of people out of work.I was there during the base closing. If you were there for the ceramony ya probly seen that huge cake. That cake was made by my buddy dan and his crew and trasported in the back of his 87 f150.That f150 is now sitting in my drive way.

Fyre82 there is a joke in these parts about trading clark county and vegas to california and taking northeastern california back to nevada were they belong.

Heh heh Dave, never heard that one here in the north end.
We've been trying to give everything south of the Sequoias to anybody that would take it. LOL JK
North east isn't boring if you know how to amuse yourself . . . and get out of desert mud when it rains.
