Yup, I was born in Eureka lived all over the bay area when my dad was going to Stanford, moved to boulder colorado were my dad worked at NCAR moved to washington were my dad took a Job with Control data (defunct now) and been here for 30yrs now, and i to want to retire in Montana.
i1dery, I remember the Control Data Computers - best in the industry for a few years. They were the first to do practical floating point math - we used them on the first of the medical devices that became cat scanners. Would you beleive that they used to get $1000 per K of memory, and all you could run was just 128K? But that was back when core memory was really hand wired magnetic cores.
We would have given the moon for as good a computer all of us have at home now!
Also, I lived a few years in the Seattle area - one of the few places I would return to.
But tell us about your Chapter - is it active, and what can we do to improve ours?
Willyb, My dad also worked with Crey back when also. He had a hand in building the
worlds fastest computer that they instld at NCAR.
The northwest chapter is a happenin place, these guys on here are funnnny,Dont now how they do it but i think they out post everyone. But lately i've been shut out from
posting anything due to something Questionable I said????

Didn't know you could do that - restrict a member from posting on only one forum, but let him post on others. . . . Not something I would do here, I hasten to add.
But you must have said something really horrible - like suggest a bowtie engine in a Ford!
