Hi guys and gals....... i just bought his 88' ranger and it is a real hard to start, it runs fine and i really like driving it but............i have to crank it over for , like 30 seconds with the gas pedal down before it will catch..it's a 2.0 with a carb....i'm wondering what could be causing this...do you think the gas is draining back into the tank when i shut it off? is there a one way flow valve i need to replace? just dont know..but it sure is hell on the starter...hmmmm..any ideas or help would be wonderful..thanx to all of you for all your help in the past with my bronco II..........BM
You should have an inline fuel pump. Is it comin' on when the key is turned to RUN? Just turn it to run and listen, I believe it's on the driver's side frame rail...I want to say after the fuel filter, but possibly before. If not, it could be you're havin' to crank it until the engine's suction pulls fuel all the way from the tank to the engine.
