lining up injection pump gear

lining up injection pump gear
i am re asembaling my motor and isee teh it looks like a Y on the gear that goes ot my injection pump does that just point straight down and if so what position does htecrank need to be at? sorry this seems liek a stupid question. thanks

There is a Y also on the gear below that drives the IP drive gear.
The lower Y is at a valley between teeth that are both marked with paint top and front of the gear.
Without getting my book out I am going to say #1 at TDC should get the marks to where you can see them.
If the whole front of the engine is off you can see timing marks on all the gears from the crank up that are all in a line when it is right.
