Just wondering, How would the Herculiner work for in the wheel wells? My rustproofing coating is being road sand blasted off my wheel wells as I drive.
LAST EDITED ON 02-Apr-01 AT 05:01 AM (EST)[p]Which rust proofing setup are you using? I'm using Por15 in the cab where you put your feet it leaves a hard finish. I covered the entire inside cab floor with Herculiner and so far it looks and feels great. I would pass on using the Herculiner where you get salt/mud... blasted on it all the time. Given the very rough surface, I think it would only be a great short term solution.
What I did was find the original inner wheel well moldings that are plastic. I was going to make some but ran across a perfect set for less than the cost of the plastic and it has the correct curves.
Just got a spray-in liner (Line-X) for mine about a week ago. After 3 years of debate about the price, all I can say is I should have done it long ago. It was well worth the money and is very heavy duty. I am very happy with it and make the bed look very nice. If you can part with the cash, I would recommend this route.
I put the Hurculiner in the bed of my truck and over the side rails of the bed. Its been about a year now and it has really faded. It also looks like it is wearing through already. I can see the red paint through it. Even on the bed rails where nothing is scrapping across it. Anyway, If I was going to do it all over again I would have it professionally done. It will probably be worth it in the long run. I think you can also have them put on some sort of UV protectent so it will not fade in the sun. I read that in Peterson's offroad magazine where they did some tests on different bed liners.
I never thought of using bedliner to cover my floor before. I might have that professionaly done to mine. Pretty neat idea! How did it look before it started cracking?
Been following this one with much interest! Question though, anybody used the Durabak coating? Has ground up rubber from old tires in it to give texture, is a brushed on type and is priced about with the Herculiner. Seems to be pretty thick stuff and is used on just about any surface were traction from slipping is needed. If anyone has any experience with this, would like to hear your comments! Thanks!
