Two strange items on my 05 screw 5.4.
1) When very cold 14deg and lower my truck whistles until warmed up completely. I have never experienced this before. Any suggestions?
2) Also when cold there seems to be a hesitation. I cannot tell if it is electrical miss or slow tranny shift.
All comments appreciated
1. Is probably the power steering pump, which is quite common on all vehicles. You should hear it when it's -20F with a 30 mph wind that mine experinced last weekend.
2. Is also more than likely related to temperature. Does it go away once the truck gets warmed up?
Whats your gas mileage in cold weather?? I put in a cold air intake, first full tank 430 miles and still had an 8th of a tank left, then it got cold which has been going on for some time, and i have hit 280 lowest and average of 320-360 to a full tank.
This is in my 05 5.4L 4x4 with tow package, and a 30 gallon tank.
Any ideas???
shouldn't you be getting better gas mileage with colder air? What's more likely is you're getting the "treated" fuel they distribute during the winter months to reduce emissions. It generally decreases your MPG.
