Thanks for your experience, dnachristen. I may have multiple conditions hiding each other. Early on I suspected the TPS, for the stumbling problems and a one-time high idle, but the van drives much better than it did. It improved considerably when I partially cleaned the MAF, and put some Techron in the tank, but now I'm trying to find the cause of the lingering stumble. Haven't had a CEL lately either, although some problems don't set one. Think I'll be checking spark plugs, do the throttle body cleaning, then the TPS as you and others suggested, then replace the MAF, in that order. Unfortunately my time to do these repairs is limited for a while.
I am having almost identical symptoms in my 97. Working on my third MAF. After spending jillions.
Got a hold of a Ford Rotunda for this van. The MAP, which comes off of the MAF in this van, is way off, and bank two injector timing is stuck at 17MS, but isn't blowing black smoke out the tailpipe.
Looks like I will be getting a different computer for mine .
