Update to increase power?

I just went in to have the DPF filter screen enabled and the head tech there said there was a new update out for my truck and that it may be for more power etc.
Well he was right,we hooked it up to the IDS and mine had a list of several updates to do.
PCM,TCM,ECM BCM and a whole list of others to be updated..
Just put a few miles on it with the new programs and the truck feels a good bit stronger and a different shifting strategy than before..

Wished I had taken a picture of the screen with the new updates to be done but forgot.

Huh that's strange. I haven't heard nor can I find anything about an update to the PSD. Did he give you a figure of what the numbers were suppose to be after the update?

I just got mine updated as well - it was throwing a 'Egr flow excessive' code. Something with the parameters must have needed adjustment. Fixed the code issue but I did notice it seemed like it had a tad more power and shifted a bit different. Thought it might just be me at first but maybe not I took delivery early Dec..

My guess is you guys have the perception of more power because the transmission has to read learn again, when they are new they hang longer in each gear.

Had mine updated today.

It blizted all the settings on the dash and stereo.

Also, the gear display on the left is no longer active. Gotta figure that one out.

Hit the gear +/- on your shifter stalk

Not so sure about that theory as I just got back from another trip and I can tell a difference in mine... Glad I had it done.

Transmission takes quite some time to relearn your driving habits and will have harder shifts
Giving the impression of more power not saying that your update did not increase power but as others have said I think this is what you are seeing
I'm sure if there was a power update ford marketing would be all over it

Would be nice if someone that had a dyno close by and could verify the new update didn't increase the power.. My seat of the pants dyno tells me it did and just not with the trans shifting strategy.

The engine strategy certainly changed as now the engine sounds different. Maybe im wrong but maybe not on more power.

Maybe they are updating our trucks to 2018 undisclosed power levels so they can advertise best in class power lol

Why is so hard for you guys to believe other people?????? If you haven't had the update done then you have no idea what your talking about. It's all just your opinion. None of you are experts in theses trucks. You just own them just like I do. If I get the update or whatever it is I will be the judge as to what it does to the truck or what it doesn't do. Maybe Ford is doing it quietly and slowly before it fully announces it.
