I have a 2000 x limited, v-10 , headers, k&n, running mobile one since the 5 mile. Today I updated my PCM. HOLY CRAP. The shift points are much smoother, it doesnt take as much gas peddle to get it going and my miles per gallon average went from 10.9 this morning to 12.2. I havent reset that average in 6 months. Dont ask me what it updated, It was all "drivablity" issues, But man, woah.

Did you do it? or have it done? If you did it how and what equipment? Thanks.. mine is a 7.3 but I am still learning.
I work at a shop and my snap on rep has kept trying to get me to buy the new scanner system that you can flash with. Well we bought it, and my EX was the "learner" so we did it. It makes a huge difference.

Wow! I have the same truck. A little how to tutorial would be nice if you have the time. What would cause the programming to change on the computer?
There were a ton of updates it took. The technician plugged the scanner in, went to the flash pcm section, he then selected my vehicle, we bought the software I think it was like 50 bucks, and he flashed the pcm.
There were NUMEROUS updates involving drivablity, emissions etc. I noticed a huge difference in performance. However it caused the truck to ping like crazy with 87 octane, so I moved to premium, and holy crap. The shift points are different, it runs smoother, it excelarates much faster.... A ford dealership will usually charge an hours labor to do a pcm flash....to update it...
actually, I would just pull in and tell them you want the pcm flashed and reprogramed with the latest software and updates. It made a significant change in the performance of my EX. I also did this on a GMC 3500 and it was just as helpful.
