That Bendix Drive is the biggest pain in the butt ever, when i worked on my started i removed and replaced that thing 4 or 5 times. I ended up using the biggest flat head screwdriver i could find. I pryed the the flat head between the gear and the collar right near the pin, then turned the screw driver to open it up. I then put another big screw driver in place of the one i used to open it up, just to hold it open while i around to the other side. Then I would jam the screw driver in on the other side of the pin, and turn. This opened up the other side of the gear. This is where you have to be fast, and try and punch the pin as far as possible. Luckily i had an auto punch

After doing this 4 or 5 times, I found out that Advanced Auto Parts sells the start with the drive gear through their online store. That starter works great!!

Thanks! I'll give that a shot tomorrow... I was thinking I'd have to use a press.
