summit cat back exhaust

Hello I was wondering if any one could shed some light on a couple of summits cat back exhausts available, the first is.

-(part#)SUM-684455 what seems like full 3" exhaust with dual tailpipes isn't this over kill?

or

-sum-684011 with a 3" intermediate dia. that goes to 2.25" tailpipes

I don't know if the specs are a consistant pipe diameter or just what the tips go to for the outlet. Another question I guess is if any body has one the above mentioned and how they like it.

ive heard that 3" exhaust is a bit much for a stock to mostly stock engine. 2.5" is better. 3" can actually do worse for you than the 2.5 could.

Iv'e got the Summit cat back dual exhaust with the 3" pipe that goes into the muffler then splits into dual 2.5" tailpipes. I love it. It's great. The part # is SUM-684011

Dude,

I was going to buy a exhaust kit for my truck until I got to thinking, I could build my own. My truck had two cats and the huge factory muffler. We cut one cat out (left the other to keep the state happy) and replaced the stock muffler with a straight thru glasspack. Then we ran the pipe out the side behind the cab in front of the rear tire into a 4" tip. It sounds a ton better but sound isn't what I was after. I now have a tad more power when passing people or climbing hills. I mean it's not gobs of power but I can really tell a difference now. I can hold 5th gear better going up hills.
