Well just recently out of nowhere my motor seems to be knocking (rod knock i guess??) I can only hear it at idle and its loud enough to hear from inside the cab...BTW my motor just turned over to 200,000 miles, and I can't say im easy on it (i bring it up to 5,000RPMs in 2nd gear alot)
200K is a lot of miles on any motor. Bottom end slop can be stopped with fresh
rod bearings, but you'll have to drop the pan and check the crank to make sure those
bearings aren't shot too. 5K is a bit much if the motor has a stock cam.
did you try putting something like stp in it to see if it reduces the sound?
Change the oil. Drain it into a clean shallow pan. Slowly stir the bottom of the oil in the pan with a magnet. If you come up with any metal filings, pull the pan and inspect the bearings.

I guess I didnt mention...I just changed the oil, and thats when I really started hearing it...Ive heard it before but I really heard it after the oil was changed
To replace bearings in a motor with 200,000 miles would be throwing good money (and labor) away!
What it needs is a rebuild!

And although this is a good idea and I've been wanting to do this for a while, My pop won't let me. He doesnt want me to put any more money in it than I have to because Im trying to sell it
Not meaning to sound arrogant but;
A gasoline motor with 200,000 miles and knocks needs;
rebuilding or replacement!
Examination is not necessary!
I am not new to exploratorary motor surgery!

PS. High mileage motor oil for your motor is 20W50 (just a heavier weight oil)
