1.- Check Automatic Transmission Fluid level and color ( must be red not darker or burned)
2.- Check last time you replaced ATF Fluid and Filter ( this must be done every 20K to 30 K miles )
3.- Hook up to a scanner to see if any related Transmission codes are thrown
If the codes don't reveal anything, reset the OD light with either the scanner or by disconencting the battery for 5 minutes. The OD light on my 95 comes on about once a year. Never any codes, disconnect battery and good for another year. Also, when the light comes on, the trans goes into 'limp' mode which causes hard shifting. It's not good to drive it any signifcant distance in the limp mode.
