od light blinks

od light blinks

02 explorer 4x4 od light just srarted blinking.is it the transmission?

Alot of the time when the O/D light blinks it means something is going wrong with the transmission, try and go to an Advance Auto or some other popular autoparts store they usually have a scanner they'll hook up to your truck to see what is going on with it.

NOrmally when the OD light blinks, the trans goes into 'limp' mode which results in hard transmission shifts. Sometimes this is caused by a false reading. Try unhooking the battery for 15 minutes to reset the codes. If the light comes back on, get the codes pulled. If you are in limp mode, it's not good to drive it for a long period as it's putting strain on the trans.

my 95 did that one day scared the crap out of me, was thinking big $.i decided to try KOEO test. had no codes,but running the test did clear the problem. made my day.
