ahahhhhhhh.... good point. Is there anything (other than a tranny swap) that could be done to make things work out for the better? (e4od, 351W)

About a year ago, when I was truck shopping, I looked at two mid 90's F-150's with 300's and both were equiped with factory mass air systems with auto transmissions. My guess is if you can find one of these at a bone yard, your swap wouldn't be all that difficult.

sorry to hijack. i'm very close to doing a rebuild/replacment of my current 351. if i go the replace route i'll be putting in a new 351. at this point could i just use a newer 351, one with a MAF? would i have to change computers?

thanks

The motor itself doesn't constitute a mass air swap. However, if you plan to install a mass air wiring harness and air meter, then yes, you will need a mass air PCM.

better gas millage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if you want auto you can swap in a aod, c6, (c4 it think) You have to look around but theres places where you can buy a e40d Controler which is completly seperate from the ecm, some you can even plug a lap top into it and chose when you want the trany to shift but it will coasts a couple of bucks. And if your realy up to the challange you can wire the truck computer up to run transmission controls , and the mustang computer to run engine controls

some 94 F150's came factory with E4OD and Mass Air.

yes, some 94s. Most 95's, and all 96's. Mass air, 351W, and E40d. Finding those parts is probably the easiest way to make the swap work.

The EEC's are still available from places like rock-auto.com.

Mass Air Sensor: F5UZ-12B579-BA
Baro/Map Sensor: E7EF-9F479A1A
EEC Module: F6UF-xxxxx-NA/NB
EEC Module: F6TF-xxxxx-AEC (CA, NY, MA)
Remote TFI: EZ12A297A

All the other sensors are generic enough you can yank them off 90-97 thunderbirds, town cars, crown vics, marquis, F-trucks/E-vans, and so forth.

If you can't find the correct wiring harness out of a 96... they are easy enough to make using several wiring harnesses that you splice together. I just finished making one for my crewcab... took a few weekends with interruptions.
