Has anyone tried to install the 5.8 litre knock sensor on a 460?
Looking over the wiring diagrams for my '88 F350 I notice that there is a port on my trucks computer that accepts the input from a knock sensor on the 5.8 litre, but is not used for the 460.
Has anyone tried to install the 5.8 litre knock sensor on a 460? If so can you let us know where you put it and how well it worked?
Well I wouldn't really bother unless you have a knock problem, but anyhow. If you have a knock sensor pin on your PCM you can try and hook up a knock sensor to it. A knock sensor must bee screwed directly into the water jacket of the block in order for the knock to resonate with enough force to cause the chrystal to emit a voltage. If you can do this and hook it up, it may work.

The water jacket is in the block. The cylinders are surrounded with water, or in a jacket of water so to speak. When ever you pull out a knock sensor, antifreeze will also run out of the hole. This is because the water transmits the shockwave from the cylinder to the sensor.
