Hello Ladies and Gentleman, have any of you had any expierence with aftermarket cams on a speed density system? I have a '92 f150 with a 302 mildly modified, I haven't seen a cam in any catalogs reccomended for this engine. But is there any specific cam out there that some one has used sucessfully, and were the gains worth it? What about some kind of adjustable or programable MAP sensor that you could use to fool the computer about the vacuum?
Comp cams grind numbers XE250H-14 .462,.474 lift,206,212 duration and XE254H-14 .478,485 lift and 210,214 duration. Both of these cams are identical to other Extreme Energy cams except they have 114 degrees lobe seperation which minimizes the overlap(time both valves are open)and helps keep the vacuum up.I'm using the XE-250H,it's only slightly larger than the stock .433 lift cam.I've noticed an increase in power over the old engine, but that's not unusual with a fresh rebuild. In my case I was rebuilding my engine and had to replace the cam anyway.I'm not sure you will see enough of a gain to justify swapping cams on a good engine, unless you are going to put bigger heads and intake.
crane compucam # 444232. its a speed density cam designed for the lightning truck. will work for you. its usually worth about 20 horse over the stock lightning cam. should work fine for you. 114* lobe separation
