Brakes

I have a 72 F100 w/ power brakes and 4 drums. The brakes work, but not until you get 3/4 of the way to the floor. When you press the pedal and hold it in one spot, you can hear the system hiss. Is there a line from the pedal to the booster thats bad or do I need a new booster.

Brake boosters look pretty expensive, about 100. Other than loosing power brakes, are there any risks involved in not fixing it. I don't have that money right now.

Im guessing you are correct about the booster. Also check the grommit that the vaccume fitting slides into on the booster, they do split from time to time. Check your local salvage yards for used boosters.
