I own a 2005 Excursion and swapped the standard 22mm sway bar for the 30mm sway bar that comes stock on the 250/350 pickups. It does make a difference but I plan to install the Landylot Rods and see if the totally solves the wandering problem.

I used the TC Bars, I would imagine the Landyots would do the same and offset the weak spring issue. Wandering is a thing of the past.
Too many posts to read so I'll pitch in my .02 cents worth. My 04 X swayed in the front to the point I was going to replace the steering box with only 25,000 miles on the X. I replaced the OEM shocks with Bilsteins (a very firm ride but the X stays on the raod) and that helped a little. Then I read a post on TDS and the suggestion was to upgrade the standard 24MM rear sway bar that comes with the X tow package to a Super Duty 30MM sway bar. It cured my X's front end wonder problem. Oh, if you upgrade to the 30MM don't ask for a 30MM for an X because you will confuse the Ford parts guy. You need to ask for a Super Duty 30 MM sway bar. Costs about $60.00 and takes about 15-20 minutes to install using a lift.
DSMMH, we have the same truck .. I've had similar issues to you early on and cured most with new ball joints and drag link. I had contemplated the Helwig sway bar but then backed off since I wasn't sure it was worth the effort ...
You have me thinking again .. especially for $60 for the 30MM bar .. no difficulties routing or anything like that .. 15-20 (on a lift) sounds too easy

post-man........It is a piece of cake. If only all of the X jobs were this easy. The new bar comes with new axle bushings. I just unbolted the frame sway brace bolts, removed the axle clamps, pulled the 24MM bar out, put the 30MM bar in, snugged the axle clamps, tightened the sway brace bolts and then the axle bolts. DONE! No more wander.
