Did you try them somehow?

didn't have to take the column apart at all

I went to disable the key reminder today and was about to take the column apart when hey, i think that is that black and pink wire. there is a group of wires that run down from the column and into a connector. i took the connector apart and took the retainer clip off it then did a little pry on the snap clip, and out it came. now when i .......i mean if i ever sell, it will go back together 1,2,3

Door chime even w/ key out & Int./Ext. Lights stay on

Hello,
I'm new to this forum, 1st post..... Just wanted to say thanks to you all. I have an 03 Expy, 6.8L and the door chime has been driving me insane for the past 4-6 months. Even with the key OUT of the ignition, the fricken chime would ding with the oor open. Talk about going crazy!?!?!?! Also, every once in while the interior lights wouldn't go off after the family would get in the truck, or exit the truck. The lights (interior & running boards) would stay on for sometimes 30 minutes.

Thanks to this forum I fixed both problems in one night. Removed the ignition assembly from the column, found the "chime" switch and basically disconnected it. Then I followed the WD40 trick on the latches of the doors (incl. rear) the clean the switch contacts there too... Everything works great, I finally like my truck again!!!!! (And my wife likes me again!!)

Again, thanks for all your help!

Jeff

That's exactly what I did - cut the wire and put bullet connectors on the cut ends. Reconnecting them is a snap if needed.
