To all: why cant you just clip the wire? You could even put a push on - push off switch there in the event that you wanted to easily restore the function.
I honestly can't think of a time that I've had my doors open, stereo on, beer in hand, and thought, "wait a minute, you know what's missing, that DING DING in my ear. Hold on, let me flip this switch. Ooooh, that's better"....Ding Ding Ding, life is good......
Seriously, just unhook the thing. My truck won't even let me lock the door with the engine running and the key in the ignition. So I don't see a negative in just getting rid of the dang thing.

What ever kind that doesn't include "ding ding" in my ear, cold, semi-cold, warm(free)that my neighbor brought over. Doesn't mattter, just no dang "DING, DING".

I will agree with that... oh ya the ding ding but if no ding means no beer then i could listen to the ding once in awhile
How do I Kill my Key/Light Ding Ding ...Ding Ding.........AAAAUUUGGGG
Looks like you're set on fixing the key-in-ignition dinger... it's a very easy fix, as others have posted.
Are you still wanting to disable the lights-on dinger? If so, here's a brief writeup I did a while back... sorry for no pics:
Lights-On Dinger
This is the dinger that blares when you open the driver door and turn on the lights without starting the truck. Sometimes, I like to go out to the truck, put on the parking lights, and make a few trips loading stuff up, with no plans to start it for a while. The dinging about drove me nuts. After extensive searching for a fix for this, and only finding posts about the key-in-ignition dinger that stated "does not affect lights-on dinger!" I posted on TDS, and FordMasterTechnician (FMT) came to the rescue.
You remove the headlight switch, and disconnect or cut the white wire with red tracer. On older models with no foglights, to remove the headlight switch you turn the lights on, pull out the swtich so it sort of pops out a bit, then insert a tiny probe of some sort into the hole you'll see. This will release the **** itself, which you pull off, then turn 180 degrees and reinsert the ****. Turn the lights off... then you sort of have to turn them back toward ON, and you will feel the switch hit a release lever, and the entire black rectangular unit, including dimmer switch, pulls right out. On newer models with foglights, where popping the switch out a notch activates fogs, I believe you simply yank the whole unit out to remove the headlight switch.
Be sure that you always check to make sure your lights are off when you finally leave the truck to go inside or wherever... without a dinger, you just might forget and leave them on and come back to a drained battery.

The only time my truck dings now is when I first put the key in and turn it to ON for the glowplugs... dings six or eight times.... still need to disable that. I believe unplugging the seat belt plug below the seat will fix it... but then there's the whole "is it tied to the airbag system somehow?" problem... so I guess I'll just live with the six dings on startup.
hllon4whls, I did the beltminder procedure exactly as described and got all the confirmation indicators. The bell still dings when I start the engine with the seat belt off. Wasn't sure if this procedure was supposed to stop that or not. If not, what does it do?

Hi all....I just did the beltminder procedure on my 02 F350 and it worked like a charm. You WILL still get the 8 seconds of ding ding when you turn the key on with the belt off, but not sure why or what it is caused by, but I drove mine around the neihborhood and NO MORE DING.....before, like clockwork every 30 seconds it would ding ding ding 24 times.....(yeah I have heard it enough) But just to let everyone know, it does work......and simple to do ....Take care...Dave
Yep, that's how mine functions w/out the beltminder... still get the first 6 dings or so when I turn the key to RUN, which I want to get rid of. Absolute silence in the truck other than that first 6-8 dings...
as far as getting rid of all the dings I think I will try to locate the speaker itself and either de-solder, cut a trace or just tape a ball of cotton over it with some electrical tape. I'll take pictures and let ya'all know what I find.
Clem, I considered that too but didn't want to mess with all the wires and all involved with the fuse module. Please let us know how it comes out. And remember you will also be disabling the lights on chime so...
Not exactly sure but mine sounds like it was coming from the in cab fuse box. I beleive there is a circuit board with the dinger that piggy backs the fuse box.
My 02 will let me lock the doors when it is running, if I disconnect the ding wire will I still be able to do this? I leave mine running when I run in to get a drink or something and it is nice to be able to lock the doors.
