Does anyone know where there may be a source for the wide camper special 8 bolt steel wheels. I think that they were usually used on the rear of 2wd camper specials. Would they fit on the front of a 4x4 1972 F-250? Thanks!
LAST EDITED ON 28-Jun-01 AT 03:27 AM (EST)[p]ANY AND ALL 8 LUG WHEELS WILL FIT THAT TRUCK. DONT MATTER IF ITS CHEVY,FORD,DODGE,AMC,******-KNIGHT OR WHATEVER. YOU CAN EVEN PUT DUAL BUD WHEELS ON IT IF YOU PUT THE LONGER STUDS IN IT. THE ONLY THING ABOUT YOUR TRUCK YHAT IS FORD IS THE ENGINE. THE AXLES WILL BE DANA'S(60REAR. 44-6F OR 60HD FRONT.)THE TRANS AND TRANSFERCASE WILL BE NEW PROSSES GEAR(GM OWNED) THE TRANSCASE
WILL BE AN NP205 AND THE TRANS WILL BE AN NP435.
YOU GOT A REAL STRONG VEHICLE.

I would respectfully note that GM 8 bolts do not fit Fords without cutting out the center hole larger. By the way, please turn your caps off.

I tried to find some with no luck. The only source would be a junkyard for genuine Ford wheels or the aftermarket. Stockton Wheel was very helpful but I could not afford custom wheels.

EITHER WAY,THEY FIT MY TRUCK.
I did'nt know of f-250's having the dana 24's. Is that with
full time hubs or lockout hubs?
Sorry about the caps. I drive trucks, not typewrighters. Had to ask someone how to turn it off!
I appreciate the feedback guys. I have both a 71 and 72 F-250 4x4 and they both have Dana 24 2-speed divorced transfer cases with the NP 435 4-speed transmission. Both have factory locking hubs and power drum brakes. The 71 has a 390 (not original) and the 72 has a 360 (might be original). The two trucks are virtually identical, but the 390 runs WAY better!
Keep looking, some should turn up. I found 4 Camper Special wheels (16.5x9.75) w/ 33" tires and 4 (16.5x7) w/ 9.50 mud-grip tires for $40 and the Charlotte AutoFair!! The guy even hauled them to my truck (he didn't have room to haul them home upstate). Good luck! Doc
