I did a great study on Frams.......
I started buying them in 1963 and still going strong.
After about a MILLION miles, no problems on all those machines I valued.
Mine was a long-term study, unlike the aforementioned.
well the test i mentioned i think was a little more detailed than yours although not as long . they did put hundreds if not thousnands of running hours on several low powered engines to very high powered aircraft, tested the flowing capacities of the filters before and after the test, tested oils after use to find what was left in the oil and left in the filters. after some filter failures!!!! yes failures the motors were torn apart to find parts of the filter all through everthing. you can get by with the minimum performance if you want but with the technolgy that is out today as far as vehicles and there oiling systems and the price of these vehicles i think i will stick with any filter that gives maximum performance.get you afilter cutter and look at the differance, that right there should show anyone the differance in quality
Wix and Napa filters go down the same production line, but the Napa go to a different boxing area. The NapaGold and the Wix are identical, but Wix makes a cheaper version (with less quality elements) that Napa sells as NapaSilver filters.
I've been using a Mobil 1 filter now for 6K and I think I'm happy with it. I know many other filters are good too, but I guess it gives me a peace of mind that I don't have to question anything about it not working. Its expensive, but it makes me feel good LOL
I did use the Motorcraft filter but once I discovered it was a Purolator One, I switched to Fram Tough Guard. The switch even got rid of the start up knock in my 89 Bronco II. I will never use a Motorcraft filter again!
