a friend of mine said he wanted to save money so he burned his own chip. i don't know much about this but it sounds like it worked. it helps that he was involved in the electronic world. is this very hard...is it beneficial? thanks.

i talked to him a bit more about it. it seems that he plugs a laptop into the vehicle (through homemade wires, which saved him $99.21), reads the computer from the vehicle through this program he downloaded. then he actually just clicked on the graphs it gave him and he can drag the graphs to do what he wants it to do. the program allows a timing advance, remove the governor, and you can program it to know exactly what you have done to your engine (new cam, port & polish, etc.) among other things. once he has this finished and set where he wants it, he just burns this information onto a new chip, stick it in, and away you go.

Hey, do you think he would be willing to burn chips for other people. I am having trouble finding a cheap option for my set up. I have a 97 f-150 with a 4.6L with high performance cams, headers and no cats. It runs really good now but I know I am not getting the full power potential........would He be willing to burn me a chip for the right price??? Thanks
hey estition...i will get back to you on that. when he gets one burned for me, i am going to watch and learn. im a bit electriconically inclined so once i see it, i can do it. since my truck is like an extra vehicle to me, i will test it out and everything to make sure it works well enough. assuming it does, i will post again here and see if anyone would want to try one.

the person helping me out has a degree in electronics for vehicles...he has been using this chip for a long time in his vehicle, no problems. in a sense, i do consider him the brain surgeon. the thought has crossed my mind. of course, i will be very cautions when trying it out. i figured, if it doesn't work or do what i thought it would, i am only wasting like 20 bucks. not too big of a deal. if it works, i am set. thanks for your concern. and yes, if i was only saving $40 dollars, i agree completely: spend a bit extra and get the guaranteed chip.
