i just bought a 03 f-150 5.4 and am intrested in installing a chip. My dad has a 7.4 disel and installed the three stage diablo chip and it made a serious difference but he also had to make some other mods, is it the same on a gas engine? how much power do you gain and do you have to make other mods to run the chip? Also, is diablo the only chip you can run?

 

The diesels and gas engines are complete different with chipping results. You'll gain about 25HP with a chip on the 5.4L. Nothing else is required other than the chip, but a good intake/exhaust/chip combination will do wonders!
