I am looking for a new tool box for work. Snap-on and Mac road boxes are too rich for my pockets. I have found a CPL LA400 for $470.00, that is a lot cheaper than regular road chests. It also looks like an interesting consept. Anyone have a box of this type? How do you like it?
Looks pretty good, I like the idea of having everything easily accessed like that. The only thing I wonder about is how well they retain everything while bouncing down the road.
They have been on the farm show circuit for a few years know. There are alot of ranchers that have them mounted on their flatbed duallies. I just looked at one on the Cornwell truck a few weeks ago. Cornwell is bringing them to the "Shop Mechanic" realm.
I have the Snap Heavy Duty Road chest. Very nice box and with no weatherstripping it keeps my tools dry. As far as durability excellent I do not travel as much as I used to but on the road enough and it is loaded down with tools and works wonderfully. They list for something like 1700 dollars new. But if you called your local Snap On rep chances are he would have a used one. The one other guy at work has a Mac Road Chest and that has stood up very well also. If you plan on using in on the road I would pay the extra money and have something that will stand up. And unless you beat it up to bad you will get your money back out of it when or if you sell it.
