Hey, it worked. I just tried the link. Anyway, he has detailed pics in his gallery. Just click right on his user name, scroll down to "my gallery" and click on that. It brings up his galleries, one of which is titled "door lock acuator installation"
Just trying to pay back for all the invaluable information I have received here. And all the money these little upgrade projects have removed from my bank account. However, it is far less expensive and satisfying when I can do it myself. I just need some help as to what the procedure might be. This site has many knowledgable contributors with hands-on experience who are willing to help. Great resource.
I purchased a 2000 Excursion one month ago. I have replaced all 5 lock actuators (4 doors and hatch) which were all out when I bought it. They would not lock or unlock...all manual. Within one week, one went out. Then a second another week later. Just today, another went out. I have replaced the 4 contacts that are under the dash in the center just behind the firewall and still have the same problem. I have no idea at this point but to find out something on these forums or take it into the dealer. My brother also owns the same 2000 Excursion with the same problem and has also replaced the actuators. I can only assume at this point that there is a defect since we both have the exact same problem and have serviced it the same way so far. Anyone with any suggestions as to what is next?
I just purchased two more from Ford just before the third went out. Could it be the master switch on the driver's door?

Reason: wrong part name in original description
Wow, that is not good. Did you recall when you replaced the actuators if the new ones were a different design than the old ones? As I recall, my new ones were noticeably different and as soon as i tried them I could tell they were stronger. Still going strong as well. There must be some sort of warranty on parts. More than one month at any rate. You must have some recourse from the place you bought them from. I have no idea what would cause the new design or even new "old" ones to fail so quickly. I haven't heard that one before.
Hey Zipper...
I've replaced all 5 from Dr. Auto. Within two weeks, all 5 were out again. Dealer stated that these were not OEM parts, but the actuators had identical date stamps on them as the new ones that I bought from Ford for 3X the price...and those stopped popping the lock within two weeks.
What is the "Super" actuator you are talking about and where do I find it?
Thanks for the input.
