My neighbors Ex pulls the the left when bracking. This started after I installed new rotors and pads or so he says it did. When I drove it I had no issues with it but I must have driven it slower than he does.
Most of the time when the car/truck pulls one way the other side has a bad caliper or brake line. Well I have changed the caliper and the brake line on the right hand side and the Ex still pulls to the left but only under hard or sudden braking.
My next plan of attack is to install a new caliper and rotor on the left hand side. I have no idea what else could cause this pull. Oh and his left front rim is covered in brake dust so it appears to be braking harder than the left side.
The Ex does not pull when driving down the road. Only hard or sudden braking will it pull.
I dealt with a pull to the left for almost a year. I took it to the dealership 4 times before they were able to resolve it. They called the ford "Hot Line" the last time. Why they didn't do it earlier I don't know... the front calipers and lines were replaced and flushed and now the brakes work like they should. My biggest heartburn came when the service manager told me that "these big 4X4's will pull sometimes."
Well it's not my Ex, it's my neighbors and I have already replaced the ball joints on the left side. The right side is fine or was fine at the time which wasn't to long ago. How ever the sway bar link is shot on the drivers which I need to order for him.
The right caliper was purchased as a loaded caliper so it came already set up on the sliding pins and with pads.
I guess I will just let him know we need to order the left side caliper and hose.
I do the work on his cars and trucks for free because he lets me store one of my mustangs in his garage. He pays for the parts.
It's wonderful you and your neighbor are in that good of terms. It seems to work well for both of you. My 2k Ex the slide pins on the caliper were stuck and corroded which caused a pull, but that was easy to diagnose and remedy...
He the neeighbor has two different detached garages. One is a 3 car garage and the other is a 2 car garage and he doesn't park a single car in either garage. I have the only car parked in the garage. He has the one garage full of flooring materials which is left over from jobs he has done. I myself hate to see all that garage space go to waste but he's not into cars like I am. he plans on cleaning them up this year and if all goes well the new home the wife and I are having built will get a 1500 sq ft garage for my toys. First we have to sell our current home.
I haven't had a chance to work on his Ex yet. I have to fit his girl friends car tomorrow. She hit a some sort of wild animal and it ripped the bottom of the radiator off. It never ends.
