I posted this question at another site. Blue IH CPS failure

After close to 250 hits there is only one person that reported a failure and his broke soon after he installed also, 3weeks. I believe you and the other person may have received a bad or weak sensor to start with and it is not a common problem.

I was reading over there as well a while back, not about the blue sensor failing.
I find it rather amusing that the DT466 owners all want to put in the T444e sender because it makes it run better. Now here and there a lot of folks want to stick the DT466 sender in thier T444e.

Do you think maybe IH screwed up and mixed up the sensors in the first place. :-)

I just called my local IH dealer and asked if he had the DT466 CPS and he looked it up as fitting the 94 and up big in-line six diesel but said it was black. He also said the DT466 refrence had an E after it. What wrong info am I giving him????

Exchanged

So i stopped in at the IHC dealer and after a bit of arguing with the
counter folk ,some of these people seem to think they know what they're talking about...NOT, i decided to go with the exchange for another "blue CPS".
I'm going to try it again! Hopefully better luck this time. Say, isn't the customer supposed to be always right? I was literally getting a lecture about how the blue cps is the wrong one for the Powerstroke...and then a sort of non listening attitude by one of the counter "experts".

They said it would be sent back to IHC for eval. and started giving me a story about if it is good
then ,you put it in the wrong engine , would credit my card if they discover (in a 90 period!) it is bad ...man ...i couldn't believe it! Long stupid dealership story short...i talked to the parts Manager and got results...new blue CPS in hand for me to have in exchange as spare(which i will test). They seem to disagree with Blown99's data on failure( i expect it) rates...
unbelievable!
