Diagram The Same..
Before we tackle this one need to know if Electric shift control wiring diagrams are the same for 98-99 Expedition With auto Trans with V8 or V10 . if so, Where did They Hide the (T.O.D) Torque on demand Relay? Hope this don't turn out be A Real G.E.M... !!

The 4.6s usually got the 4R70 tranny, the 5.4 should have gotten the 4R100.
What's "torque on demand"? Sounds like marketing dept gibberish. Nothing in the service manual like THAT.
What exactly are you trying to determine and for what year/model/configuration?
i never Argue with what i'm Told By is owner.

The TOD relay is the solid state relay that controls the clutch that transfers the power from the rear towards the front. It can be cycled rapidly (modulated) to give the desired duty cycle to select the amount of torque for the front relative to the rear. The relay is physically located behind the center of the I/P, up near the base of the windshield.
A brief comparison view of the 98 and 99 AWD schematics show that there are some differences. I notice a couple of solenoids on the 99 drawing that aren't on the 98.
Out of time for tonight. Maybe someone else can look further into it.
