I'm looking for a 12 volt hot in both start and run. I have the pink resistor wire (no good as its not 12v) that runs to the coil. I also have a Red wire with a yellow stripe that comes off the same place but can not find that color on any wire diagram. I need to connect to the ford racing control pack so I can start my coyote.
Sorry that I can't help but thought I could piggy back your post and say that on my '68 I'm looking for the accessory wire for (A.) stereo install and (B.) for some reason my heater fan switch works even when the key is out of the ignition!

All 1956 and later FoMoCo vehicles are 12V
COLF-12250-A .. Resistor Wire-Ignition Coil (Motorcraft DY-37) / Obsolete - Available NOS & from auto part stores.
61.49" long / Color coded pink / 1.30-1.40 ohms resistance / #20 gauge wire.
ALL 1960/73 FoMoCo vehicles - 1974/75 FoMoCo vehicles without DuraSpark electronic ignition.
Thanks jeff Ive looked at that wire diagram about 10 times at least before I asked question, I read someplace that there is a mistake in it. The wire I'm talking about is in the same position as 932 the blue wire that runs out to the carb on some trucks. I traced it up under the dash and it runs over to a female bullet connector with nothing hooked to it and it has two wires at the bullet the one from the switch and the other goes back into the harness.
NumberDummy I know about the pink wire being a resistor wire and all ford used them, that is my problem with using that wire I need a full reliable source of 12 volts or the control pack will shut down the engine. The pink wire drops the 12 volts down for the coil.
There is a full 12V coming out of the switch where the pink wire connects. The pink wire itself does the resistance. I don't think you need the pink wire for a Coyote. So remove the pink wire out of that connector and tap your PCM wire in to the switch there.
Ok thanks That was the plan for tomorrow, but i'm still playing with the idea of using that red wire with the yellow stripe. I'll have to hook up some temporary power and check them tomorrow, I also have to tap into the the start wire the blue with the red stripe. All they do is trigger the relay in the ford racing control box. I'd love to have it running buy the end of this long weekend.
That position on the switch is it hot in both start and run? cause i know it also bypasses the resistor wire when the starter solenoid is activated through the I connection through the brown wire.

That I do not know. A poke the wire circuit tester will show you. Note, the wire coming out of the switch is #16. Which would be full 12V, until it reaches the connector (16A) and turns in to the pink wire.
You're not going to need the 5-8V pink wire anyways.....right?
Nope won't need the pink wire I hope don't ever plan on going back to a carb motor with points. On my truck its pink and fat all the way. I figured out what the red wire with the yellow strip is it's for the brake system failure light. Not sure why it has a female bullet connector on the other side of the dash for but that's where it loops back to. I'm going to use that wire I tested I have 12 volts in both start and run. I'm not using the brake light I have explorer rear discs crown vic front and master cyl and hydro boost are off a 2005 superduty. Thanks for all the help I was just trying to avoid having to put a battery in and hooking the solenoid and bat cables all back up but I'll use it for a temporary post to hook my positives to.
