i have a 2000 f-250 7.3. my oil pan just started leaking @ 85k. i know this was a problem with the 99's. is this something i can do at home or do i have to bring it in? its gotten pretty bad in a short amount of time. thanks
I had a leak on the front of my oil pan last year at this time, 90K on a 2000. Stealer wanted $1500 to pull motor and put a new gasket in or he said he could try to inject some silicone in it and he said that works 65% of the time. It is holding so far and that only cost me $65 or so.

Do you have any idea how they injected the silicon?? I have had the front of my pan leaking for a year know and would love to fix it without pulling the motor. Thanks
My dealer cleaned the area real good, and then used what looks like rtv sealant around the seal. Mine has been holding for over a year now.
Same here, they put the dye in and then he said they injected it through somehow but you can sea the silicone on the outside of the pan as well. Sorry I don't know more about it.

That makees sense and it seems easy and cheap to do yourself. I would drop the pan and super clean the gasket area then apply high temp RTV sealant.
