88 150 302 sets all night and have to really grind on it. This came on kind of quickly. What to look for first. runs good after it gets going

have the battery tested. sounds like its not holding a charge too well. most auto parts stores do it for free. a quick test is only a couple of minutes, and a full load-hold test requires about an hour or so.

I would vote battery as well. Although a tune-up is never a bad idea if one hasn't been done in a while.

heck no guys, spins like a top. and as it is not flooded when it starts, I think it is not getting fuel when cold. What sensor controls that operation?

hard starting when cold
Would look at iac sensor on throttle body may be sticking.Remove and spray
with throttle body cleaner their is a small needle valve in their that you can see
thats gets carbon build up and will stick. Also try some dry gas you may have
some mositure in fuel line. Also if you havnt change fuel filter in awhile may be a
good idea to replace.

I have an 87 f150 and i had the exact problem you speak of and the only thing we replaced was the starter, starts every turn, and i live in CT some cold weather to start a truck on one try. Give it a shot let us know.
