You might also want to take a look at Pi-Thon clamps. Not sure who carries them, but I know they have a website (www.pi-thon.com). A friend uses them exclusively on all the blower connections on his drag car, and he's pushing 38 pounds of boost. No failures, no loosening.
sorry... i did miss that earlier post... those are the clamps i was thinking about using... can anybody tell me what i'll pay for ones that would fit on the y-pipe..?
Not positive, but I think that the 5" one I used on my air filter was just under $5 at my local Kenworth dealer. I remember thinking that they were expensive for a hose clamp, but it's worth it to me for the assurance that they'll stay tight.

They should stay tight. That's what they're designed to do. I will say, that I recently installed an new 6637 filter, and when I went to loosen the CT clamp that was on it, it was still TIGHT!! It had been subjected to nearly a year of underhood temps and vibrations with the outside temps ranging from the single digits to over 100* during that time. I too am not a fan of those stock clamps. They will be replaced -- eventually.

Johnny8 the trick to getting it to stay is to have a can of brake cleaner spray and COMPLETLY degrease the flange and hose where they make contact. Even the smallest amount of lube of any form will allow the collar to slip off.

thanks... i will do that... but i also want to upgrade and use a piece of 4" pipe to make the connection really secure..!
