i have a 97 with a weird boost leak sound coming from the driver side floor sounds like under dash ive checked and plugged boost gauge line under hood still hear it checked up pipes and inner cooler boots everything looks good, you can hear when going about 45 at 5 psi then when you floor it it gets much louder! anyone know what else i can check or is this ok or what and my boost is about the same as it always is
I'll take a picture of it tomorrow. A few dollars at a farm store is all it takes. A piece of 4" OD rubber connector and a cap. Put in a valve in the cap. You connect it to your intake and with the tire valve pump air into the system at about fifteen psi ( If I remember correctly) and keep pumping. Then with a spray bottle filled with dish soap and water start spraying all of your connections on the intake. Any bubbles and you found a leak. Leave it to Travis!
Oh hell, here it is, I can get plently of sleep after I'm dead, LOL.
You might do a search on boost leak detector. Maybe its in the mod section at the top of the first page. Its pretty simple idea though, I shoved the black end inside of one of the intake hoses to get a tight fit and just used a 12v air compressor to pump air. The system will not hold pressure even if you don't have any leaks so you have to keep pumping air.
I usually regulate my pressure to 30psi when when checking for leaks, but it doesn't matter too much I don't think unless the leak doesn't appear until after a certain pressure.
Mine makes the same noise...i thought it was my clutch.
my egts run a little hotter its gotta be boost it happens when it starts to get in higher boost tomorrow imma try the leak test hopin to find a leak on a turbo boot or something
