When I changed injectors I also changed out the Kwik filter for an AIRAID (same as AFE stage I) setup. Since the swap I've been looking for a boost leak, or so I thought. I did find a couple small leaks. My drive and boost pressures would rise equally up to 33 lbs. At that point my drive pressure would continue to rise with no increase in boost. Last night I removed the intake tube to the AIRAID filter and went for a spin. My boost increased by 5 lbs. I'm trying to get ready to go to a big pull in Ohio on Saturday. To get a different filter setup I would have to pay overnight shipping to be ready to go. Bling, on goes the light, try the NAPA 6637 (kwik filter). Well lets just say I'll keep the 400+$ in my pocket. No restriction, and 38 lbs of boost. Same as no filter at all.
I had a S&B power cone filter that performed as well as the 6637, actually a little better, but like all the washable one's it was just too much of a hassle, so I went back the big paper monster.
I use a K&N outer filter wrapped around my MAC and the filter maintenance has been near cut in half. I do a lot of off highway driving going to offroad race events and dunes. The K&N has really helped alot.
