I think the whole thing is fake. I guess the owner's have to apply for the show, then they have to pay taxes on all the parts they get. Let's see, I put in my application to have my car stolen for a TV show, it gets stollen, and then I'm really, really surprized when I find out after being jerked around for a week by some stupid people that it was Overhaulin, yea, right.
I checked out the application once, and it is for people who want to have it done to someone else's car. You have to talk about the person, explain why they deserve to have it done, disclose if you have told anyone about filling out the application, AND if the person in question watches Overhaulin. I have seen people who really seemed to kind of just be playing along, though.
As for the bondo... I never see huge amounts of bondo. I hear them complaining about having to knock out bondo, and I see them frequently welding in new panels, and it's standard practice to use a thin layer of filler in places, and then sand it to get everything perfectly level.

Ha Ha, funny, must have not seen some of the episodes I've seen. I remember a '56 Chevy they did awhile back(actually they used three '56 chevys to make one) they really laid the mud to that one, even 'ol Foose himself was a spreading it on!
ANytime you have old steel you will lay the bondo on. It is the only way to straighten the body out. Even though it is layed on most of it is sanded out. It is not uncommon that some of the old cars you see that are retore back to show room condition to be covered with a real light coat of bondo. Done properly it will last forever.
Oh ya I love Chips works. Taking a car that is almost a wreck and restoring it to stock is dumb IMO. If thats what I wanted I would just go buy one that is already in stock condition. They are not that hard to find.
i was wondering how long it was going to take before someone commented about the use of body filler on the cars.(by the way, bondo is a brand name, not the product name, for those that care to use the proper terminology).and it is part of the restoration proccess for almost all vehicles.as hard as it is for some to beleive, every car on the road has some body filler on it,even brand new ones.as already stated,a thin layer is put on the body panels to correct hi, and low spots.its okay to have body filler as long as it is not used to form panels.used properly, and applied correctly,it will last the lifetime of the vehicle without any noticable signs of even being on the panels.just my 2 cents worth.-billy
I have to say, I would trust my truck with them, over the pimp my ride show on MTV. Now that is a show that puts the billion watt speakers with 10-15 tv screens.
After all he does more what the owner would like. If I said I would kill him if he lowerd my truck, I don't think he would do it and test me.
I watch his show and think they are intertaining.
As said earlyer the "Biggest Beater In America" was stupid. I promise you, there are more cars in need of a overhaul in my area than that one.
Lets just say foose is a Hot Rodder not a truck man!Thats what we need a 4wd show with all the new goodies and the monster diesels now that is a show. But I still love to watch foose I like the time frame we used to do old houses like that Im mean falling down house 6 guys in 2 weeks its new I mean the neighbors would come home from work on the second dayy and lock up there brakes and holler did you guys move in a new house?I like that pressure theres nothing like a goal. Its TV Im sure alot of it is preplanned but some of those rides are pretty sweet. And I do like his wheels.I used to love American Chopper but got sick of the father son battles is was good for a season or 2 but just wore me out.Appreciate ya!and your comments!
