OK, I'm looking to build some rustic and/or tacky furniture from some old alpine skis. Coat racks, benches and the like. This will probably involve cutting some of these to length. What type of tool should I use for this? Since modern skis are made of a wide variety of materials (metal, plastic, fibreglass) I don't think it's a good idea to just use my powersaw. I could use a grinder to notch the metal edges and then a saw on the remaining wood/plastic/fibreglass. what do you think?
saw zall? band saw with the right blade? if you dont have any of them a hack saw. i think either one of thos should do the job good. just get a good fine tooth blade that wont take splinters off the side.
I'd use a Sawzall with a good fine-tooth bi-metal blade. I cut up some old skis years ago with a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade, worked okay. Took a while, though.
