could be dull or warped.

take it off and lay it on a known flat surface.

If you're cutting wood:
Could be dull, or warped. If it's smoking, it's dull for sure. Have you tried a lube on the blade? They make a lube stick just for that. You could also just rub an old candle on the blade as it's turning. Watch your fingers! Sometimes a blade can build up sap, and crud. You could try cleaning it with oven cleaner if that's the case. Then lube. If it's dull none of that will help much. If it's just a build up of crud, it could help quite a bit.

If you're cutting metal, I dunno.

It may also be a case of vibration due to the washer holding the blade on being too small. Try to adapt a thicker larger washer between the blade and the nut or bolt...depending what yours has. It worked for me after an old timer gave me this tip. Works well on a table saw too.

Are you sure it's the blade??? Maybe the motor is wearing out??? Are there any bearings that could be wearing out causing the noise??? If it's the blade I would think changing it would be a quick way to solve the problem or rule it out.

I have a big chopper 12" mitre compound, and I occasionally hear the motor squealing. I haven't figured that out either, but she always does the job.

The way to determine the sharpness of some saws is to examine the sawdust. The teeth of of saw are sometimes and usually like little chisels, they plane away small bits of wood and push them away to make a cut. If all is right with the blade, you should have fluffy, maybe curly tiny, strips of wood. There shouldn't be much pressure needed to cut wood either, if you have to push the blade hard, the blade is dull. If there is too much fine dust after cutting, i..e. the kind of dust that easily goes airborne after you blow on it, or the wood is being burned then it is time to sharpen the blade. Use only good quality carbide tipped blades, they are resharpenable, and produce very fine cuts when working well.
