05 SD 5.4 w/shifting problem
I asked this ? once before and got no response so i'll try again. 05 sd w/5.4. when it shifts to overdrive it hits very hard. Took to dealer and they changed a soloniod on the side of the trans. this helped but its still does it from time to time and geting back to all the time. one dealer said that the dual exhaust was causing this but i dont believe this. any suggestions ?? 7000 miles on truck.

Does the exhaust come close to the trans? If so the solenoid could be getting hot if not maybe the exhaust is doing something weird. Changing things on these newer trucks is always a gamble.

no sir, the exhaust is not close to the trans at all. but to answer your question, i drove it about 500 miles before it started doing this, this was before i had the exhaust put on. a simple flowmaster with 4" tips. nothing out of the ordinary. although the problem got better, there are times when you set the cruise at about 42 while its in 5th gear it slams into 6th real bad. think that its something innternal ??? i'm going to take it back to the dealer that changed the solonoid and made it better but i wanted to get some opinions from you guys before hand. someone out there knows whats wrong and or has had this problem, i cant be the only one in the US.....thanks for the reply, thought that no one wanted to converse with a newbie..

i checked on the web sire that you referenced and there is nothing there about any trans issues, i also called and checked with the dealer and he didnt find any as well....sure hope someone that has had this happen before reads this thread...
